Hyderabad: Amazon Web Services (AWS) renovated Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Hythabad in Shabad Mandal in Rangareddy District. It also built an oxygen facility to supply up to 100 beds at Maheshwaram Community Health Center (CHC) in Rangareddy district.
The ZPHS provides education for students from Hythabad and 15 other neighboring villages. It has 323 students (174 girls and 149 boys) from grades six to ten with 15 teachers. It has Telugu and English as the language of instruction.
According to AWS, students were struggling with damaged toilets, lack of access to drinking water, water seepage in classrooms and a dilapidated school building. Students had to sit on the floor as the school did not have benches and tables. The classrooms had damaged floors and lacked lights and fans. Cooking was often done under unsanitary conditions.
