Amazon is investing another $5 billion ($7 billion) in artificial intelligence giant Anthropic and could invest another $20 billion over time to deepen the companies’ ties in an increasingly competitive AI industry.
Anthropic, maker of chatbot and programming tool Claude, plans to spend more than $100 billion on Amazon’s cloud technologies and chips over the next decade, the companies said in a statement on Monday (Tuesday AEST). Amazon shares rose around 3 percent in extended trading due to the news.
