Amazon has changed its PTO policy for quarantined workers, as reported by CNBC and the Wall Street Journal. The policy has shrunk from originally 14 days to a week (or 40 hours), which is still mentioned on an Amazon settings page (via Engadget) but was already shortened to ten days. EngadgetAmazon’s report extracts from Amazon’s notice to employees about the change, and cites the CDC’s updated recommendations that people who test positive for COVID should isolate themselves for five days while their symptoms are gone.
Amazon is not the only one changing its policy together with the federal government. As Engadget points out that Walmart has also reduced the number of PTO hours employees with COVID-19 receive. There were also reports of sick workers across the country losing protection after the U.S. rescue plan on Jan.
