Amazon has denied claims that the closed beta for its upcoming MMORPG New world bricked the graphics cards of some players.

Players started claiming that yesterday their graphics cards were completely broken during the game, with all players reporting the problem with RTX 3090 cards.

It appears that almost all bricking incidents have occurred specifically with EVGA RTX 3090 cards, but gamers with other brands of RTX 3090 reported loudly as well a thread in the game’s subreddit which now has over 1200 answers.

One theory as to why this happened was based on the game’s unlimited frame rate, with one gamer noting that limiting the frame rate to 60fps helped bring CPU and GPU temperatures down to levels consistent with other graphics-intensive games .
