WASHINGTON (WDVM) – The Smithsonian will be 175 years old in 2021 and will be opening the Arts and Industries Building for the FUTURES exhibition for the first time in almost 20 years. In the middle of the exhibition is an Amazon Artificial Intelligence sculpture called “Me + You”.

“Me + You” uses art and technology to take an evolving look at how everyone’s visions of the future connect. It has 1600 LED lights and nine stations with a microphone at different heights for accessibility. A team of nearly 25 people spent over 12,000 hours on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) side and two years on the design side putting it together.

To interact with the sculpture, a person goes to a station and says, “My future is ___” and then the sculpture translates that vision of the future into colors and patterns. At the far end, the technology interwoven …
