Alibaba announced plans to launch smart glasses based on its AI models. The Quark AI Glasses are Alibaba’s first foray into the smart glasses product category.

AlibabaThe artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses went on sale Thursday as the Chinese tech giant looks to increase its focus on consumer AI in an increasingly competitive market.

First announced in July, the Quark AI glasses are available in two variants – the S1, which starts at 3,799 Chinese yuan ($536), and the G1 for 1,899 yuan.

The tech giant has integrated its Qwen AI models – Alibaba’s version of ChatGPT – into the device, which is also linked to its newly launched Qwen app. This means users can use voice control to make the glasses perform tasks.

The lenses of the glasses are practically screens and the device has a camera integrated into the frame. The main difference between the S1 and the G1 is the display, Alibaba said.
