Amazon has added two new celebrity language options to its Alexa assistant: Shaq and Melissa McCarthy. With these new options, Alexa users will receive responses from the personal assistant in the voice of either celebrity, the latest addition to its line of novel voice options. Amazon previously added Samuel L. Jackson’s voice, which is still available.
Samuel L. Jackson’s voice option hit the market in late 2019, but it wasn’t until last year that users were able to summon the actor with his own wake-up phrase: “Hey Samuel”. This eliminates the cumbersome step of asking Alexa to ask Samuel a question every time the user wants to hear an answer in the celebrity’s voice.
Amazon had also added thousands of new phrases to its Jackson language options, as well as more filthy language for users who enjoy them. Back then, it was announced that a few new celebrity voices would also be arriving on the Alexa platform in early 2021 – and now two of those options have been announced Shaq and Melissa McCarthy.
The third celebrity voice promised last year is Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. Shaquille O’Neal and Melissa McCarthy’s new voices are priced at $ 4.99 each, the same price as the Jackson voice. Users who purchase the new voice options can activate them by saying to Alexa, “Activate”, “Hey”. [Voice]. ”You need an Echo smart device to use the celebrity voice options.
Amazon advises that Shaq and McCarthy voice options will not work with first-generation Echo and Echo Dot devices, as well as wearables with Alexa voice support. The same goes for Fire TV devices and Fire tablets, both of which don’t support celebrity language options.
