Alexa is great at setting timers, keeping you informed of your daily appointments, and controlling your smart home devices. Now the voice assistant has a new trick up its sleeve. They act as a security guard and monitor your home when you are not there.
As part of the new Guard Plus feature, currently only available in the US, you will receive a notification on your smartphone if Alexa detects an unusual noise such as broken glass or steps when you are not at home.
In response to the unusual noises, Alexa can also activate a siren on your Amazon Echo smart speaker. When a compatible home security camera detects movement outside your home, Alexa can play dog barking to deter intruders.

With the smartphone alarm, you can also play the sound that Alexa heard or listen live at home so that you can hear for yourself what is happening – just like with a surveillance camera at home.
