Akamai purchased Inverse to better identify IoT and mobile devices such as internet-enabled HVAC, lighting systems, medical devices, robotics, and printers in corporate environments.

The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based intelligence edge platform provider said Montreal-based Inverse’s robust data repository and algorithms can give businesses a deep understanding of the expected network behavior of IoT and mobile devices. The deal was designed to improve Akamai’s enterprise security offering and expand its portfolio of edge tools for Zero Trust and Secure Access Service for IoT.
