AirBnb hosts in the state of Oregon can no longer see guests’ first names before agreeing to stay. From January 31st, only the initials of the guests are visible until the booking is confirmed.

The new regulation applies for at least two years.

State-specific law came when three black women from Portland, Oregon suggested that displaying names and photos on the website allowed discrimination. In 2019, AirBnb has settled the lawsuit.
