The All England Club stated that the AI model used in Catch Me Up was trained in Wimbledon’s editorial style and will continue to evolve with human oversight.
This experiment follows previous AI-based initiatives by Wimbledon, including AI-based commentary and captioning on online videos, which faced criticism from professionals like former British number one player Annabel Croft. Croft expressed concerns about AI replacing human jobs in the industry and described the move as insulting to her profession.
The All England Club is known to be exploring the use of AI in various aspects of the tournament, including the potential replacement of linesmen with artificial intelligence technology. Despite these developments, Wimbledon remains committed to incorporating both AI-driven features and traditional editorial content to enhance the viewer experience.
