A recent study using artificial intelligence is reshaping our understanding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, suggesting many of the scrolls are older than previously believed. The research, by University of Groningen Professor Mladen Popović and published in the journal PLOS One, employed radiocarbon dating combined with AI-based handwriting analysis to re-date the scrolls—some of which now appear to be 50 to 150 years older than initially estimated.
