Artificial intelligence (AI) is overtaking cost savings as the main driver of cloud adoption among Indian enterprises, as companies compete to deploy AI systems that can automate complex business processes and make decisions across core operations, a senior Oracle executive said.
Over the past decade, much of the economic rationale behind cloud migration has been to shift IT spending from capital expenditure to operational expenditure and reduce infrastructure management burden. “This calculus is now changing rapidly, driven by the rise of AI and autonomous software agents that require cloud-native data, systems and scalability,” Kartik Raghavan, senior vice president of product development at Oracle, told BW Businessworld on the sidelines of the Oracle AI World Tour in Mumbai.
“I think innovation is a key driver now because of the emergence of AI,” Raghavan said. “Cloud adoption is a prerequisite for AI adoption.”
