When AI goes wrong in the customer experience, it rarely happens without uproar. A single AI hallucination in CX, such as telling a customer that their warranty is void when it isn’t or inventing refund rules, can wipe out years of brand trust in a matter of seconds, not to mention incurring fines.
The problem is usually not the model. It’s the data behind it. When knowledge bases are outdated, fragmented, or inconsistent, even the smartest AI is sure to generate the wrong answer. For this reason, knowledge base integrity and RAG governance are more important than model size or speed.
The urgency is clear. McKinsey reports that almost all companies are using AI, but only 1% think they are mature. Many also admit that accuracy and trust are still major obstacles. In the customer experience, where loyalty is fragile, a single hallucination can trigger churn, compliance issues and reputational damage.
