AI helps breathe new life into it Oracle of Dodonaone of Greece’s oldest holy sites, through a new augmented reality platform designed to make visits more engaging and easier to understand.
The project, led by Elissavet Kosta of the Ionian University in Corfu, Greece, shows how digital tools can help visitors explore ancient heritage through stories, mobile guides and on-site interaction.
The studypublished in Strategic Innovative Marketing and Tourism, focuses on the ARDION project. Researchers built the platform to improve the visitor experience at ancient Dodona, an open-air archaeological site where traditional signs and explanations may not fully convey the site’s complex history.
The system combines augmented reality, geolocation tools and storytelling functions to enable an even more immersive visit.
