We recently voted our best budget smartphone of the year as Google pixel 4a won. Well, it seems that you, our readers, are voting for this choice. The Google Pixel 4a was also recognized at the AH Reader’s Choice Awards this year. It won easily, it seems. In a Twitter poll, we offered four options: Google Pixel 4a, Galaxy A71 5G, Moto G Power and Nokia 7.2. The Google Pixel 4a won 58.3 percent of your votes, followed by the Galaxy A71 5G with 25 percent. The Moto G Power is in third place with 12.5 percent, the Nokia 7.2 with 4.2 percent.

This result is not exactly surprising. Google has done a great job this year with the Pixel 4a and Pixel phones in general. The device has a great camera, really good performance, is well built and compact enough for one-handed use. In addition, the battery life is pretty good. I’ve been using this phone as my daily driver for a while now and I don’t feel the need to change at all. It reminds me of the good old Nexus days and I’m glad our readers like it too. Given that the Pixel 4a has already won an AH award from the site’s editors, I’ll try to keep this as short as possible to avoid repeating myself completely.

Great performance, good display

The google Pixel 4a is operated with the Snapdragon 730G SoC. This is far from the best that Qualcomm has to offer, and yet the phone performs admirably. This handset is not suitable for long gaming sessions, but it can handle games easily. Even some more demanding games will run fine, although they may not run as well as they do on the Snapdragon 865 or similar. However, this processor is more than enough for everyday use. The phone is snappy when it comes to opening apps, multitasking, multimedia consumption, etc. 6GB of RAM is included and seems more than enough for this phone.

The device comes with a 5.81-inch FullHD + OLED display, and that display is … well, it’s good. It’s far from the best FullHD + panel on the market, but the chances are you won’t have any complaints. Unless you hold it alongside a better device, you really won’t be disappointed. The colors are powerful, the blacks are deep, the viewing angles are good … and the display is bright enough. While this is a 60Hz display so it isn’t exactly too fluid, you can’t ask for more at this price point. Additionally, it’s a flat panel display, which is what most people prefer.

Excellent camera performance and really good battery life

The Pixel 4a comes with the same main camera as the Pixel 5. In fact, this is the only camera on the back of this phone. Google has been using this 12.2 megapixel sensor for a long time. It managed to get its algorithms just right and it still works like a champion. Whether you use it during the day or at night, you will likely get great shots. The software magic of Google does its part. As long as you don’t need an ultrawide camera, this is one of the best point-and-shoot smartphone cameras out there. That’s a big bonus for a phone this affordable.

In terms of battery life, this aspect may surprise you. The Google Pixel 4a can easily achieve 6 hours of screen punctuality in my use. Note that I don’t actually play games but do use my phones a lot during the day and often exceed that 6 hour mark. Surfing, multitasking, image editing, multimedia consumption, messaging, email and much more. This phone can handle everything like a champ and still has plenty of battery life. Wired charging with 18 W is included in the scope of delivery. This isn’t the fastest, but chances are you won’t have to charge this phone before the end of the day. So that shouldn’t be a problem.

With Google Pixel 4a, smartphones on budget for 2020 are looking good

The Google Pixel 4a is not only the best budget phone of 2020, it’s one of the best phones of this year overall. When you look at everything you get here, it’s difficult not to say so much. I’m used to using flagship devices, and yet I stick with this smartphone. The size is perfect, convenient to use, and delivers in every major way. If you have been wondering whether or not to buy this phone, it seems that both we (editors) and our readers agree that this is an excellent smartphone.
