Symptoms or Error

The customer tried to decrease the number of cores per vCPU in a Nutanix machine catalog.  However, the new machines did not have the desired change.

With Nutanix hypervisor we need to “Update Machines” after making changes to Provisioning Scheme via Powershell.

1.    Get output of ProvScheme for existing catalog to be updated:

Get-ProvScheme -ProvisioningSchemeName XXXXX

2.    Update catalog with correct vCPU and memory.  Paste the below script in PowerShell ISE and configure the desired vCPU, RAM, CPUCores, and the VMCpuCount

$prop = ‘

vCPU” Value=”2″/>

RAM” Value=”2048″/>

CPUCores” Value=”2″/>

Set-ProvScheme -ProvisioningSchemeName XXXXXX -CustomProperties $prop

Set-ProvScheme -ProvisioningSchemeName XXXXXX  –
VMCpuCount 2 -VMMemoryMB 2048

3.    Get output of ProvScheme to validate desired parameters are correctly update:
