Tech giant Cisco has announced the launch of Cisco Meraki India Region, a new cloud region hosted by a cloud service provider integrated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India. This move is aimed at digitizing India and enabling businesses across the country to embrace a cloud-first transformation while meeting their local data storage and privacy needs. Cisco Meraki, with over 8,10,000 customers worldwide, offers a premier cloud-managed IT platform that accelerates cloud-first business transformation through simpler operations, secure networks, and an ecosystem that drives growth and innovation.
Meraki provides comprehensive networking, secure networking, and IoT capabilities that offer centralized visibility and control, unified wired and wireless network management, and reduced operating expenses. Lawrence Huang, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco Networking – Meraki & Wireless, highlighted the importance of the Meraki India region in helping customers securely connect and scale their businesses with the simplicity they expect from Meraki. The region also provides advanced security features like penetration testing and daily vulnerability scans to meet local data storage needs.
According to Huang, 96 percent of Cisco Meraki customers reported improved cybersecurity after adopting the technology, with 95 percent noting improved IT management of remote sites. For customers prioritizing local data storage, including public sector entities, government, education, financial institutions, healthcare, and professional services, the Meraki India region offers benefits aligned with their cloud transformation goals.
