Adam Selipsky, CEO of Tableau, moved to Amazon to run his cloud business. Industry watchers predict that Salesforce’s friendship with Amazon Web Services will benefit.
Selipsky reported directly to founder and CEO Marc Benioff since Salesforce bought Tableau for $ 15.7 billion in 2019. Experts believe that running AWS will bring the two companies closer together.
“In some cases, it’s kind of a lose-win situation for Salesforce,” said Gartner analyst Jason Wong. “You’re losing a really good leader and leader in Adam, but you win when it comes to improving your relationship with AWS – and AWS is already a strategic partner for Salesforce.”
Similarly, Selipsky’s leading AWS could help Amazon drive more revenue with Salesforce, said Patrick Moorhead, founder of analyst firm Moor Insights and Strategy.
