Online criminals claim to have used Elon Musk’s Grok chatbot to create sexual images of children, as a child protection advocate warned the AI tool risks pushing such material into the mainstream.
The U.K.-based Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) said users on a dark web forum bragged about using Grok Imagine to create sexualized and topless images of girls between the ages of 11 and 13. IMF analysts said the images would be considered child sexual abuse material (CSAM) under British law.
“We can confirm that our analysts have discovered criminal images of children between the ages of 11 and 13 that appear to have been created using the tool,” said Ngaire Alexander, head of the IMF hotline, which investigates reports of CSAM from members of the public.
X, Elon Musk’s social media platform, was flooded with images of women and children having their clothing digitally removed by the Grok tool, prompting public outcry and condemnation from politicians.
