Ubiquiti, One of the largest providers of network equipment, including routers, webcams, and mesh networks, has alerted its customers to a data breach.
In a quick email to customers on Monday, the tech company said it had become aware of unauthorized access to its systems hosted by a third-party cloud provider. Ubiquiti did not name the cloud company when the breach occurred or what caused the security incident. A company spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment.
However, the company confirmed that it “cannot be certain” that customer data has not been disclosed.
“This data can contain your name, your e-mail address and the unilaterally encrypted password for your account”, it says in the e-mail to the customers. “The data can also contain your address and telephone number, if you have given us this information.”
