V&V Walsh is one of the largest local employers in the South West, with around 650 staff, but the company insists the technology has not caused any redundancies.
General manager Brent Dancer said the “pretty impressive” technology had revolutionized the sheep delivery process.
“We now have the ability to compare the number of AI cameras with a manual count and the numbers on our scales,” he said.
“We now have to compare three or four different data points to get the right result for a producer.”
According to Brent Dancer, the company is embracing new technologies in hopes of increasing efficiency. (ABC Sputh West WA: Madigan Landry)
