Tenders for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, major government infrastructure construction and defense projects are among federal and state procurements that are at high risk of antitrust and collusion and are being closely scrutinized by the competition watchdog.
Bids for government projects would be vetted using new technology to track down and prosecute construction firms, consultants and other contractors who defraud taxpayers, said Gina Cass-Gottlieb, chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
