Israel, America’s partner in the effort, has escalated hostilities with another invasion of Lebanon. This was countered by Houthi threats to block oil supplies from the Red Sea, which accounts for another 12 percent of global supplies.

Meanwhile, in Europe, Ukraine has crippled nearly 40 percent of Russia’s oil export capacity through a series of drone strikes, significantly denting Vladimir Putin’s bid to capture windfall profits from rising energy prices to finance his increasingly futile venture.

As we are the world’s second largest oil exporter, this adds to the already alarming specter of rising energy costs.
