Two “People” stories have emerged from VMware in the past few weeks highlighting subtle but profound changes that are currently emerging across the IT vendor community. The first story involves VMware’s Chief Operating Officer, Rajiv Ramaswami, who has joined Nutanix as CEO, replacing retired Dheeraj Pandey. The second story concerns Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware, who will serve as CEO of Intel.

Much of both stories are based on the company’s reactions to these two events. VMware has filed legal action against Ramaswami in the Santa Clara County Supreme Court of California alleging material and persistent violations of his legal and contractual obligations and obligations to VMware. The company’s statement reads:
