Microsoft Corp. has unveiled new tools and services for developers at its annual Build developer conference, focusing on enhancing their work with artificial intelligence in Azure cloud and coding environments like Visual Studio. The update includes a preview of the AI Toolkit for Visual Studio Code, allowing AI engineers to work with large language models using local and cloud computing through platforms like Azure AI Studio. Additionally, Visual Studio 17.10 now integrates GitHub Copilot directly within the IDE, providing developers with an AI assistant for code completion, contextual assistance, documentation, and more.

On the language side, Microsoft has updated its .NET framework to version 9 Preview 4, which includes support for generative AI applications and the introduction of .NET Aspire cloud-native stack. This stack provides tools and libraries for building cloud applications with pre-configured patterns to accelerate development and reduce the need for manual configuration.

In terms of Azure updates, Microsoft has introduced API Center to simplify API management, Azure App Service for building and deploying web applications, and Azure Container Apps with dynamic sandbox sessions for AI application developers. Azure Kubernetes Service now offers Automatic in preview, automating cluster configuration and management for improved security, performance, and reliability.

Dev Box, Microsoft’s Azure service for developers, has been updated with new productivity and business management features, including team images, customizations, and project-based catalog capability. The platform also offers an improved Windows app experience and business management capabilities such as connection telemetry and hibernation upon disconnection to reduce costs. Dev Boxes can now be deployed in additional regions like Southeast Asia, Northern South Africa, Central West Germany, and more.

Overall, Microsoft’s updates aim to empower developers with enhanced tools and services for AI development, cloud application deployment, and business management within Azure. These advancements will enable developers to streamline their workflow, improve productivity, and optimize their applications for efficient performance.
