Partnership Between Siemens and Microsoft to Provide AI-Enhanced Solutions for Product Lifecycle Management on Azure

Siemens Digital Industries Software has secured an expanded partnership with Microsoft to offer its Siemens Xcelerator as a Service industrial software portfolio through Microsoft’s Azure cloud and AI platform. This collaboration is designed to combine Siemens software with Copilot and generative AI capabilities, providing Siemens customers with more flexibility and choices while making Microsoft AI solutions more easily accessible.

The partnership will kick off with the introduction of Teamcenter® X software, which is a reliable and scalable product lifecycle management (PLM) solution, on Microsoft Azure. This move allows customers to implement essential solutions on their preferred cloud and AI platform, taking advantage of Microsoft’s responsible AI tools and top-notch security features. Teamcenter X empowers teams to enhance operations, streamline cycle times, cut down on IT expenses, and expedite innovation processes.

This collaboration follows the recent release of the Teamcenter app within Microsoft Teams, facilitating seamless communication between frontline factory and service teams and design and engineering teams through Siemens’ Teamcenter software. Through the integration of custom co-pilot functionality into the app, Siemens developers have enabled frontline workers to access engineering data and collaborate efficiently by leveraging advancements in generative AI and natural language processing.

Siemens is also in the process of developing a Copilot add-on for Microsoft 365 for the Siemens Teamcenter app in Teams, assisting workers throughout the product lifecycle and value chain in managing their workloads more effectively. This add-on allows users to seek assistance from Microsoft Copilot within the Teams app, resulting in enhanced productivity and collaboration among users.

Nick Parker, the President of Industry and Partnerships at Microsoft, emphasized the significance of incorporating Azure AI into the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to meet market demand and foster customer-centric innovation. This partnership aims to empower design engineers, frontline workers, and teams across various business functions and geographical locations, ultimately encouraging innovation and productivity in the industry.
