Intel’s latest Lunar Lake processors will be featured in over 80 laptop designs

Intel recently announced the upcoming launch of its Lunar Lake client processors, which are set to appear in over 80 new laptop designs from more than 20 OEMs. These processors aim to provide global-scale AI performance for Copilot+ PCs. Scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2024, the Lunar Lake processors are expected to deliver more than three times the performance of the previous generation.
Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s executive vice president and general manager of Client Computing Group, highlighted the breakthrough power efficiency, x86 architecture support, and comprehensive software support across CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs that Lunar Lake processors will offer. The NPUs, in particular, are specialized accelerators designed for efficient AI and machine learning tasks on the device, reducing the need for cloud processing.
The Lunar Lake processors are expected to bring significant advancements to the AI computing market, delivering over 40 tera operations per second (TOPS) neural processing units (NPUs) and over 60 GPU TOPS.
