Hybrid cloud management in focus for Dell and Nutanix – SiliconANGLE

As demand for greater flexibility and simplicity in hybrid cloud solutions continues to surge, industry leaders are seeking to respond with effective hybrid cloud management. To do so, innovative technologies that target the needs of modern businesses need to be considered.

With that in mind, Dell Technologies Inc. and Nutanix Inc. have joined forces to deliver new offerings, described as a streamlined HCI-based appliance and an agile two-tier solution. In a world where data and compute are not evenly distributed, HCI is an important bridge, according to Rob Strechay, principal analyst at theCUBE Research.

“This will be especially true with AI moving out of the hyperscalers towards the edge, which is why what Dell and Nutanix have cooking is so interesting and an important moment for HCI,” Strechay said.

The new offerings from Dell and Nutanix will be a key area of interest during the Hybrid Cloud Made Easy With Dell Technologies and Nutanix event on August 13. The event will also be an opportunity to learn more about use cases from both companies on their current and previous hybrid cloud offerings.

The new developments will be explored by Strechay and theCUBE Research chief analyst Dave Vellante as they talk with thought leaders about hybrid cloud management, simplicity and HCI. Strategic moves in hybrid cloud management

Dell and Nutanix have been at the forefront of innovation in hybrid cloud management, enhancing their market positions through strategic partnerships and technological advancements. Dell, in particular, has revamped its strategies to boost efficiency, including updating its sales organization to become a leaner company.

“We are combining teams and prioritizing where we invest across the company. We continually evolve our business so we’re set up to deliver the best innovation, value and service to our customers and partners,” the company wrote in an email to SiliconANGLE.

This commitment to innovation is evident in Dell’s delivery of VMware Inc.’s latest vSAN 8.0 ESA iteration through its PowerEdge and VxRail platforms in hyperconverged infrastructure.

Testing that we did showcases just how important those newer generation technologies are to the ESA performance levels that you can get to with VxRail and vSAN,” said Bill Leslie, director of HCI technical marketing at Dell Technologies, during a recent conversation with theCUBE.

Earlier this year, Dell’s stock experienced a drop, with analysts attributing it to rising AI server demand impacting overall profitability. However, the good news is that the company is becoming less dependent on storage and its consumer business, according to Constellation Research Inc. analyst Holger Mueller.

“These are good trends, and as infrastructure closes the gap with client solutions, it will give the company a better balance overall,” Mueller said.

Nutanix, meanwhile, has also pointed to various initiatives as it has seen a sales slowdown. In May, Nutanix Chief Executive Rajiv Ramaswami cited the company’s recent partnerships with Dell and Cisco Systems Inc. as part of a good news story moving forward.

Nutanix is leveraging Kubernetes and cloud-native workloads with its Nutanix Kubernetes Platform, which provides a Cloud Native Computing Foundation-compliant stack to manage Kubernetes across on-premises, hybrid and multicloud environments.

“For the first time, we’re not running our stack on a hypervisor either delivered or managed by us,” Lee Caswell, senior vice president of product and solutions marketing with Nutanix, said in May. “It’s an opportunity to run in a containerized manner on infrastructure delivered by someone else.”

Both companies will showcase their latest offerings during the “Hybrid Cloud Made Easy With Dell Technologies and Nutanix” event. The streamlined HCI-based appliance and the agile two-tier solution are designed to improve IT operations, resiliency and flexibility, marking the next step in their strategies to navigate the evolving hybrid cloud landscape.
