IT research firm Gartner believes that Oracle’s cloud ambitions are on par with those of industry giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. One key difference, however, is Oracle’s willingness to collaborate with other vendors within the same account. This approach allows Oracle to provide infrastructure services while focusing on adding value through its enterprise applications.

Analyst Thompson suggests that Oracle’s cloud strategy centers around two key areas. The first involves expanding its offerings in the healthcare sector by enabling better communication between providers and giving individuals more control over their medical records. However, maintaining trust is crucial, as any errors could undermine confidence in Oracle’s health solutions and services.

Secondly, Oracle intends to continue investing in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. The 2016 acquisition of NetSuite has proved beneficial, and the recent purchase of Cerner supports both healthcare and SaaS strategies. Thompson predicts that Oracle will further pursue SaaS applications and acquisitions due to their favorable margins and the trend of companies preferring to buy applications rather than build them in-house.

Oracle’s partnership with Microsoft is seen as a strategic move to address challenges within the cloud market. By enabling interoperability between Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure, Oracle has broadened its appeal to Microsoft-centric enterprises while emphasizing flexibility and customer-centric solutions. This partnership showcases Oracle’s commitment to enhancing its competitive edge and solidifying its position in the cloud market.

Overall, Oracle’s cloud strategy appears to be multifaceted, with a focus on healthcare, SaaS solutions, and strategic partnerships. By capitalizing on its strengths in enterprise applications and infrastructure services, combined with strategic acquisitions and collaborations, Oracle seeks to compete with industry leaders in the cloud market and maintain relevance among large customers.
