HTX and Cisco agree to collaborate on using 5G and AI for improved public security

Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology (HTX) and Cisco have joined forces to explore the potential of 5G and artificial intelligence technologies through Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration Program (CDA). The collaboration will focus on testing various 5G proofs of concept to enhance national security and innovative AI security operations to combat cyber threats.

With the rapid evolution of AI presenting both challenges and opportunities in the field of cybersecurity, leaders in the industry have emphasized the importance of incorporating AI capabilities into security systems. HTX, a statutory body in Singapore dedicated to developing technological solutions for national security, sees the collaboration with Cisco as a valuable opportunity to strengthen its security operations.

One of the key projects under the partnership involves building a custom AI-powered network and security operations platform known as AISecOps. This platform, hosted locally alongside HTX domain data, will leverage Cisco’s generative AI (GenAI) to identify and address cyber threats more effectively. The platform’s natural language capabilities will simplify cybersecurity processes and empower non-technical employees to respond to threats efficiently.

Singapore has been actively exploring partnerships with leading tech companies to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities. Last year, the Smart Nation Group partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to implement dedicated cloud infrastructure for running sensitive workloads securely in the cloud. Similarly, the Center for Strategic Infocommunication Technologies collaborated with Google Cloud to access AI services while ensuring the security of sensitive data.

The Cisco CDA Program focuses on supporting governments in their digitalization efforts by co-developing digital infrastructure solutions. Recently launched in Vietnam to aid the country’s digital economy growth, the program aims to drive digital transformation at the state and local levels.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between HTX and Cisco signifies a commitment to exploring the integration of 5G and AI technologies for enhancing national security. HTX CEO Chan Tsan and Cisco Networking Executive Vice President and General Manager Jonathan Davidson signed the agreement at Cisco Global Headquarters in San Jose, USA, highlighting the shared vision of leveraging technology to address cybersecurity challenges effectively.
