IBM signed an MoU with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat to establish an AI Cluster utilizing IBM’s WatsonX to promote innovation and collaboration among financial institutions in GIFT City. This collaboration will provide financial institutions with access to AI Sandbox, support with proofs of concept, AI literacy programs, and digital assistant solutions.
Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, expressed that this partnership with IBM will help Gujarat lead in adopting AI and driving digital transformation. Sandip Patel, CEO of IBM India and the South of Asia, highlighted the significance of using AI for businesses to enhance productivity, innovation, and customer experience. He mentioned that this collaboration with Gujarat government will accelerate the state’s digital transformation by making the latest AI solutions easily accessible to financial institutions in GIFT City.
IBM will provide software technologies and platforms in a cloud environment to enable financial institutions to customize and tune large AI models in a sandbox environment. Additionally, IBM aims to develop digital assistant-based solutions to facilitate the onboarding and integration of these custom AI models for financial institutions. As part of the partnership, IBM will create an AI curriculum for schools and universities in Gujarat, aligning with their goal to train 30 million people by 2023 and 2 million students in AI by 2026. The collaboration will also include literacy programs and certifications for state professionals to upskill and prepare them for the future AI-driven economy.
