Google has recently added its AI assistant, Gemini, to the Gmail sidebar for both web and mobile devices. This feature is now available to Google Workspace customers with specific add-ons. Gemini has been integrated into various Google platforms like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. In Gmail, users can use Gemini to summarize email threads, suggest responses, compose emails, and find specific information within their inbox or Google Drive files. This feature provides proactive prompts to help users and allows them to ask questions like searching for specific data or schedules without leaving Gmail.
The mobile version of Gemini on the Gmail app for Android and iOS also allows users to analyze email threads and view summaries. Google is planning to add more mobile features in the future. In May, Google announced improvements to Gemini at its annual developer conference. The company aims to make Gemini a virtual teammate within Google Workspace, capable of managing projects, organizing data, providing insights, spotting trends, and assisting in collaborations.
Microsoft has also been enhancing its AI assistant, Copilot, and other AI tools. The company revealed that Copilot is gaining popularity across various industries.
