Google has announced a surprise event, leading many to believe that the company will reveal the new Pixel 9. A teaser video titled “AI… meets IX in Made by Google” shows the I and X in Pixel while the other letters fade away, hinting at the Roman numeral for nine. The outline of what appears to be a smartphone is also visible in the video.
The Made by Google event is scheduled for August 13 at 1 pm ET (10 pm PT), where Google will showcase the best of its artificial intelligence, Android software, and Pixel device portfolio. Last year’s event introduced the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones, as well as the Pixel Watch 2. With the growing focus on AI technology, it is expected that Google will emphasize this aspect in its upcoming event.
Google has previously demonstrated its Gemini AI model, with varying levels of success. Other smartphone manufacturers are also incorporating AI features into their devices to enhance user experience. While Pixel users initially had exclusive access to certain AI tools, these features have since been integrated into various Android devices. The Made by Google event may introduce additional features to further enhance the Pixel’s capabilities.
The decision to hold the event earlier than expected may be a strategic move by Google to prevent leaks, as the company has had issues with premature information release in the past. Android fans eagerly anticipating the event may be looking forward to new developments and innovations in the Pixel lineup.
