U.S. chipmaker Nvidia is in talks to provide credit guarantees worth several billion dollars for AI cloud company Nscale, The Information reports, citing people familiar with the matter.
The guarantees would support debt financing for power infrastructure and construction at Nscale’s data centers in West Virginia, which Anthropic plans to use. The project includes around 460 megawatts of AI capacity.
Anthropic agreed in August to spend $45bn on computing capacity from Nscale’s facility. Nscale is also in talks to provide Anthropic with an additional roughly 460 megawatts in a deal that could be worth about $45bn.
Nvidia is an investor in Nscale, where Norwegian investment company Aker is a major shareholder.
No credit guarantee agreement has yet been signed, and the terms may change.
