Google Play Vibe Coding: 18+, No Dev Account [2026]

Google Play has opened a private lane for apps that never touch the public app store catalog. On October 13, 2026, Google confirmed that anyone with a standard Google account can now build a custom Android app inside Google AI Studio and run it on their own phone through Google Play, with no developer account required. The move effectively turns one of the world’s biggest app marketplaces into a personal workshop for vibe coding, the increasingly popular practice of describing an app in plain language and letting an AI model write the code.
