Google has rewritten the Merchant Center Help page for the “Low image quality [image_link]” issue so that it no longer warns merchants their products may be kept out of ads and free listings. The page now states that affected products will continue to show. The change, which Google made without an announcement, was reported today by Search Engine Roundtable.

In Short

Google used to warn shops that a blurry or pixelated product photo could stop the product from appearing in Google Shopping ads and free listings, and now it says the product will keep showing. This matters to anyone selling through Google, because a common warning in the Merchant Center dashboard has changed from a possible block into a nudge to fix the picture. What has not changed is the separate size rule: from January 31, 2027, images smaller than 500 x 500 pixels will still be rejected.
