IBM Stock Rises 1% as Sarawak Quantum Hub Chases Post-Encryption

IBM, the hybrid-cloud, AI and enterprise-security company IBM, rose approximately 0.5% at 11.05am ET to $222.70 on October 6 as it announced plans for a quantum-safe center with Malaysia’s Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre. The project targets organizations preparing to replace encryption vulnerable to future quantum computers. The valuation picture shows shares 8.4% below the $243.12 GF Value estimate, suggesting a modest discount rather than a deep bargain.

The proposed center would put IBM’s security tools in front of potential customers. IBM outlined plans to use Guardium Cryptography Manager to locate cryptographic assets, rank vulnerabilities and help organizations map their migration. Demonstrations and customer programs would support adoption across businesses and public agencies. But the announcement gives no construction budget, opening date or signed-customer count. There is a plan. Revenue commitments remain unquantified.
