TomTom is recasting its map data as reasoning context for AI agents, a shift that could widen its customer base beyond navigation

TomTom is opening its location data to AI agents that customers build on Microsoft’s Fabric and Foundry platforms, via a preview of Microsoft’s new IQ Sharing feature. Users can pair that geographic context with their own records in OneLake, giving agents a clearer picture of how goods move and where road or infrastructure risk is building.

The Dutch firm argues that agents tackling such questions must grasp how roads, regulations and risks interact and shift over time. Its data is built on Overture Maps and open standards, which it says eases combination with compatible datasets.

The service is listed on Microsoft Marketplace and qualifies under customers’ existing Azure consumption commitments. For logistics and transport businesses already on Microsoft’s cloud, that could spare them a separate procurement route.
