Intel is set to launch its new processors, known as Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake, for desktops and laptops this fall. The Arrow Lake-S processors are expected to be released in October, while the Lunar Lake-V processors will likely be launched in mid-September. These new processors are anticipated to offer improved performance and capabilities, providing Intel partners with cutting-edge technology for the holiday season.
The next-generation Intel mobile platform, Lunar Lake-V, designed for thin and light notebooks, will be unveiled during the week of September 17-24. This platform is expected to be showcased at the Intel Innovation event taking place on September 24-25. The specifics of the Lunar Lake-V platform, in comparison to the Lunar Lake-MX platform, remain unclear. However, laptops featuring Intel’s latest microarchitectures for mobile PCs are set to debut this year, preceding the release of laptops based on the Meteor Lake system-in-packages scheduled for December 2023.
Regarding Intel’s desktop processors, the Arrow Lake-S processors and Z890 platform for next-generation desktops are slated for release in October 2024. The Arrow Lake-S processors will be Intel’s first desktop CPUs based on a multi-chip design with advanced packaging, representing a significant shift in how Intel constructs its desktop processors. These high-performance CPU cores with Lion Cove will not support Intel’s Hyper-Threading simultaneous multi-threading technology. It remains to be seen whether the new 24-core processors will outperform their predecessors in multi-threaded workloads.
Intel typically launches unlocked Arrow Lake-S processors and the Z890 chipset first, followed by non-K Arrow Lake-S CPUs and B860/H810 platforms later. Intel has not officially confirmed release dates for the Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake processors, as these plans are subject to change due to factors such as product availability and market demand. The company’s launch strategy aligns with its standard product release schedule, with more information expected to be revealed as the release dates approach.
