Nvidia fixes driver bugs three times faster than AMD.

The German industry publication PC Games Hardware published statistics on reported fixes for AMD and Nvidia graphics drivers. Analysts compiled the report based on official support documentation, changelogs, technical articles, and hotfix pages from both developers. The errors were classified into unique error families based on specific applications, APIs used, and affected graphics card families.

According to the collected data, Nvidia registered a greater number of error families, recording 106 issues compared to 65 for AMD. Nvidia promptly fixed 89 crashes, while AMD addressed 40 identified issues. The median wait time for a necessary fix for Nvidia was only 12 days, while AMD users had to wait an average of 35.5 days for an update.

Within the first 30 days of discovery, Nvidia resolved approximately 74% of all reported issues, while AMD’s successful bug fix rate for the same period was 45%. Nvidia spent a median of 4.5 days preparing driver patches, releasing 16 such builds. AMD’s engineering team required a median of 23 days to publish 13 similar patches. Both companies had exactly one bug outstanding for over 90 days.
