CANTON, Miss. (InvestigateTV) — All 50 U.S. states are home to data centers, which power the growth of artificial intelligence. Companies are building large warehouse-like facilities filled with computing technology to expand their capacity. In Madison County, Mississippi, one complex is changing the surrounding area.
When Amazon announced it would build two data centers in central Mississippi, state leaders said it marked the largest investment in state history. Just north of Jackson, Amazon Web Services is using dozens of local vendors to help build its $10 billion investment.
Five data centers are operational on the site, with seven more under construction.
Local businesses see growth
Chad Wages owns a local engineering firm. Before AWS announced its plans, he had four employees. He now has 18.
