NetApp has acquired JetStream Software, a provider of VMware disaster recovery and migration technology, to expand its cyber resilience, data protection, and cloud migration capabilities. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
JetStream’s technology is designed to protect VMware workloads and help organizations recover those applications in cloud environments, including on NetApp first-party storage offerings such as Azure NetApp Files.
The acquisition addresses enterprises that continue to operate critical applications on VMware but are considering cloud migration.
Rather than requiring companies to move production workloads immediately, JetStream allows disaster recovery to serve as an initial step. Organizations can protect workloads in the cloud first and potentially transition production environments later as their cloud strategies mature.
JetStream also expands NetApp’s reach beyond customers already using NetApp storage.
