BOTETOURT CO., Va. – Botetourt County Board of Supervisors member Tim Snyder held a town hall meeting at the VFW Post 1841 for Amsterdam district residents on Thursday, focusing on one topic: Google data centers.
However, members of the media – including 10 News – were not allowed inside the building.
Ahead of the meeting, we pressed Botetourt County officials about why the media wasn’t allowed inside.
“It’s not just for media; Tim {Snyder} wants folks from his district, the Amsterdam district, wanted to make sure there is space for folks in there, for priority and to have seating in there; it is a smaller building,” Botetourt County Director of Communications Brent Watts said.
This post from Snyder’s Facebook page advertised the town hall as public. Viewing the post shows where Snyder says that – due to a potential capacity crowd – the meeting would be open to Amsterdam residents only.
