MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) — Berkeley Electric Cooperative has been awarded a $500,000 grant from Google that will go toward working with a nonprofit to provide improvements for local homes.
The grant will help support energy improvements, home repairs and community services for low- to moderate-income households in the Lowcountry. It’s a three-part partnership between Google, local nonprofit Hope Repair and Berkeley Electric Cooperative.
“This Google grant is an incredible opportunity for Berkeley Electric to partner with a local non-profit named Hope Repair,” Tony Vincent, Berkeley Electric Cooperative vice president of public relations, said. “And with this partnership we’re able to help a lot of our members that might not have been able to help themselves.”
