Apple has warned Australian iPhone users could be next to miss out on key AI features if Canberra follows Europe’s approach to regulating big tech companies, after the company blocked the rollout of Siri AI on iPhones and iPads in the EU.
The battle is being fought in Brussels, but Apple’s message is aimed squarely at countries like Australia, where the federal government has developed a new digital competition system for major platforms.

The Treasury says the proposed regulation aims to stop anti-competitive behavior, barriers to entry and abuse of market power that harms Australian users, while the ACCC has backed new advance rules for certain digital platforms.
