Laurent Mekies, director and CEO of Formula 1 team Oracle Red Bull Racing, got his first luxury watch in 2002, a year after his first stint as a Formula 1 engineer.
He bought a TAG Heuer Aquaracer after giving his parents a his-and-hers pair, Mekies told us at Geneva’s Watches and Wonders trade show in April.
“I still have it,” he said. “It’s a very solid watch that you feel comfortable wearing because of the whole motorsport atmosphere behind it.”

Mekies and the Red Bull team travel to Monte Carlo this weekend for the legendary Monaco Grand Prix. After a frustrating start to the 2026 season, the team sits in fourth place in points.
