Wichita Falls denies agreement on Google Data Center water deal

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — The City of Wichita Falls said it has not agreed to provide water directly to Google for a proposed billion-dollar data center in Archer County, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

During a phone interview, Wichita Valley Water Supply Corporation General Manager Jeff Watts confirmed that the water for the proposed project would ultimately originate in Wichita Falls through existing wholesale agreements. “That’s correct, through via Wichita Valley Water Supply Corporation,” Watts said when asked whether water from Wichita Falls would go to a data center in Archer County.

City officials emphasized there is no contract, agreement, or formal commitment between Wichita Falls and Google regarding the proposed development.

“As far as a data center in Archer County? No, we have not had any conversations with Google as far as a data center in Archer County,” Wichita Falls City Councilman Austin Cobb said.
