NashvilleThe redevelopment of the East Bank, a neighborhood along the Cumberland River, is progressing little by little.
Part of the renovation is a new building footbridge which will extend 863 feet across the Cumberland River from the east bank to Germantown.
The Oracle Corporation is behind the project. The tech giant recently stored documents with the subway planning department for the bridge and with them new pictures of it.
Behind the bridge is a long list of architectural and engineering firms. Foster + Partners leads the design together with Hawkins Partners, Schlaich Bergermann Partner, Terracon and Thomas & Hutton.
Renderings accompanying the permit show the 16-foot-wide bridge’s connections on the east and west banks of the river. The construction will utilize a steel pole supported system, a cable supported deck and a cast-in-place concrete deck.
