Australia’s biotechnology sector is quickly colliding with the explosive rise of artificial intelligence, and Perth-based Syngenis Laboratories wants to push itself into the middle of the revolution.

The company has developed an AI-powered discovery platform called Syngenis Discovery that is designed to dramatically accelerate the search for next-generation therapies and diagnostic molecules. In doing so, Syngenis aims to overcome one of the biggest bottlenecks in biotechnology – identifying viable treatments from billions of potential molecule combinations.

In traditional drug discovery, laboratory testing, modeling, sequence refinement and toxicity analysis can take months or even years, with researchers often studying thousands of molecules before identifying viable candidates. Much of the process is still fragmented across multiple software systems and relies on manual interpretation. However, Syngenis Discovery aims to compress this workflow into just a few hours.
